‘Split ends’ (working title) is a new duo contemporary circus show with Inka Pehkonen and Imogen Huzel. The show is imposed by its variety of high-level circus skills including various different aerial disciplines for example Washington trapeze, loop, Chinese Pole and also partner acrobatics, skipping rope, hand standing and contortion without forgetting comedy. The show can be performed indoors, in a theatre, in a circus tent or outdoors (in an adapted version).
‘Split ends’ is a provocative and humoristic, dominant and powerful statement against the stereotypical portrayals of women today. Moreover it is telling two simultaneous stories of two female caricatures who have found their freedom to be ugly, vulnerable, provoking, self-ironic and fiery. The stage becomes a playground for the two to meet, to talk, to listen and to learn from each other. The empowered and authentic stories and experiences of these two women create a liberating and genuine image of accepting one’s weaknesses as a human being, a woman and an artist in todays society and finding the strength within.
