(BE)Tyyskä & Pehkonen is a playful 30-minute outdoor circus performance by Sisus founding members Inka Pehkonen and Rosa Tyyskä that brings a fresh perspective on sustainability, aging, and enduring creativity. Humor, acrobatics, and storytelling come together to explore environmental sustainability and the sustainability of careers in the circus world.
In the circus field, turning 30 is often seen as the start of aging out of the profession. Inka and Rosa challenge this perception, proving that experience and maturity bring new depth to their art. The bicycle, more than just a prop, serves as a powerful metaphor for balance—both the literal balance required in circus disciplines and the figurative balance needed to sustain our world and artistic practices. As the performers navigate the challenges of balancing on and with the bicycle, they reflect the delicate act of sustaining careers, creative expression, and the demands of a changing environment.
Tyyskä & Pehkonen is more than entertainment; it invites reflection on sustainability in every sense—environmental, artistic, and personal.
The creation process of the show will kick off in the beginning of 2025 with the premiere set to take place 2027.
